Eventually Bethany finds her way back to Jumanji as well, though I won’t get into any more late-game spoilers. He has similar goons doing his dirty work, and the whole thing plays out pretty similarly to Welcome To The Jungle, with some twists and turns as they track down Spencer who is in the avatar Ming, a sneaky burglar who also happens to be an Asian woman (Awkwafina). Jurgen the Brutal (played by Game of Thrones alum Rory McCann) is another 2-dimensional video game villain, though it’s fun to see McCann in the role. This time around they once again have to get back a stone from an evil villain. He’s brash, getting into fights when he’s told to lay low, and basically getting everyone killed over and over again.
He has none of Spencer’s hesitation once he realizes what’s going on.
Johnson is great as a more rascally Bravestone.
The adventure kicks off from there, and the humor hits a lot of the same notes as Welcome to the Jungle, though it’s pretty funny to have Bravestone and Mouse as the two grumpy old men. Jumanji: The Next Level Credit: Sony Pictures
